We are delighted to have had confirmation that The Big Lottery Fund has awarded us another three years funding for our work with families of children aged 5-13 years. The project is to cover all of East Lancashire and we are excited to be working with our colleagues at Home-Start Rossendale, Burnley and Hyndburn Scheme to deliver this.
The project allows us to support families where children have started school or are at transition stage into high school. As children grow, parents face different issues and Home-Start East Lancs Plus aims to match families with a volunteer who can support parents through engaging with schools, understanding bullying, drugs, adolescent mental health and the minefield of social media. Volunteers encourage parents to develop good routines, discipline and communication with their children. Parents are encouraged to work closely with schools to help their child to attend, achieve and enjoy school life. A coordinator, project support worker and dedicated volunteers are there to provide reassurance and empathy.
